WWE has been slowly increasing dual brand live events. During the past couple of weeks, they have made changes to upcoming show line-ups and they are now Raw/SmackDown Supershows.
Last week?s live event in Boston included Superstars from both brands. The upcoming live event at Arena Ciudad in Mexico City was originally a Raw show but they recently added SmackDown Live stars to the event.
This might be a hint on plans going forward for live events and could be a sign that they are beginning on softening their stance on the brand split. During the latest earnings conference call, Vince McMahon said that the company realizes that changes need to be made to ?reimagine? live events because they are barely breaking even due to declining attendance.
One thing I heard that was suggested was adding localized promo inserts before and after WWE Network shows. The idea I heard pitched was that the localized promos would air only in cities that have events coming up on the calendar. So if you live in Houston, Texas then you might get a local promo hyping ticket sales for an event near you. The promo would air before and after On Demand content and live streams.
McMahon indicated during the conference call that fans would start seeing changes in 2019.
