The official WrestleVotes Twitter account recently tweeted that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was originally booked to win the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble match in January. According to the tweet, The Rock would have then gone on to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event. As you’d expect, those plans changed after Roman Reigns had to leave television due to his current battle with cancer (leukemia). Take this news for what it’s worth but WrestleVotes has broken several WWE stories in the past.

According to WrestleVotes, a scenario where The Rock could still win the WWE Royal Rumble match and then go on to face Brock Lesnar could still take place. With that being said, the site claims that The Rock might have reconsidered the idea once plans changed.

Rumble tidbit: Plan at one point was for The Rock to win the Royal Rumble & face Roman Reigns at Mania. That’s obviously not happening. Can Rock still win it & face Lesnar? I guess. Depends what kind of agreement Rock and WWE have. Once plans changed, Rock may have reconsidered.
