‘I Love Lamp’: Wis. News Anchor Falls for Teleprompter Prank on Live TV
Teleprompters can be wonderful things. They’re essential for delivering the news. But the tools of the trade are only as good a those who use them. And when those who use them turn them into a practical joke tool, we get viral video gold. And that’s what happened on WGBA-TV in Green Bay, Wis. recently when the show’s director decided to pull a prank on meteorologist Brian Niznansky.
After talking about a cat story with his co-anchor, Niznansky turned to the prompter and said, “In other news, uh, I love lamp.”
It took him a minute to realize what just happened.
“What is– what? Whoa. You got me!”
“Oh my God he totally fell for it!” his co-anchor shouted, she then explained that “Brian will read anything that’s in the teleprompter:”
