Deadly storm tears through Alabama

Jefferson County sheriff's spokesman Randy Christian said the storm produced a possible tornado that moved across northern Jefferson County around 3:30 a.m., causing damage in Oak Grove, Graysville, Fultondale, Center Point, Clay and Trussville

Theresa Read and Patsy Stanberry look at the storm shelter that Bobby and Jan Sims had in their yard that was part of the damage from a severe storm, in Oak Grove, Ala., Monday, Jan. 23, 2012. The underground garage housed a trailer that the Sims said was their storm shelter. Unfortunately, Bobby Sims died in the storm and his wife Jan is currently hospitalized from injuries she sustained. The couple didn't make it to their storm shelter.

Residents cut fallen trees off of houses in Oak Grove, Ala., Monday, Jan. 23, 2012. after a possible tornado passed through the area. Homes were flattened, windows were blown out of cars and roofs were peeled back in the middle of the night in the community of Oak Grove near Birmingham.
