AN Adelaide scientist's world-first formula has made the beauty of flowers even more breathtaking.
Professor Mark Tester's invention makes ordinary flowers and plants appear as though they are luminescent.
"They look like a galaxy of stars," he said.
Prof Tester, along with a team of local scientists, developed a special fluorescent formula, which is sprayed on to the flowers to make them glow. A battery pack is also needed for the flowers to fluoresce.
"They look like glistening jewels," he said.
The brand, Galassia Flowers, was developed and made in South Australia. Glenelg-based Bioconst funded the invention, which is launched today.
Prof Tester said the spray and battery packs would be distributed to florists who express interest in selling them.
He said the spray bottle would retail for about $20 and would "do 200 flowers".
The price of the battery pack and flowers will be determined by the florist.
The invention already has attracted interest from overseas.
