It took only 40 minutes for San Diego police to catch up with a barefoot, screwdriver-wielding suspect, wearing a pink tutu and a princess top, in connection with a sexual assault in a public bathroom
Gregory Schwartz, 30, was arrested for the March 2, 2014, attempted sexual assault of a woman in the bathroom stall of a Big Lots store. The woman was reportedly in the stall when the suspect entered the bathroom, dove under the partition and grabbed her. She tried to fight him off while he allegedly pinned her to the wall and covered her mouth. The woman screamed and was able to get away and report her attacker before he was able to sexually assault her.
A review of the surveillance video showed a barefoot man wearing a “a tutu-type thing,” and a princess top, which turned to be a Barbie costume that had been stolen from the store. When confronted by a store employee, the suspect allegedly brandished a weapon, possibly a screwdriver, which he threatened to use, and then ran out of the store.
Police arrested Schwartz in connection with the assault about 40 minutes later. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information is urged to call police at 619-531-2210
