      Default Hobbit Characters

      Bilbo Baggins
Bilbo Baggins (played by Martin Freeman), of Bag End, probably shouldn't have been quite so eager to join Gandalf for his unexpected journey — but, sometimes, when the road calls you have to answer. (The same recklessness would later take root in Bilbo's nephew, Frodo.) Besides, good burglars are hard to find

      Balin
Brother of Dwalin, Balin (played by Ken Stott) would survive the events of The Hobbit and breathe life into the Mines of Moria ... only to be killed by orcs. When Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship of the Ring attempts to travel through the Mines, they find Balin's grave: "Here lies Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria."

      Bifur
Cousin of Bombur and Bofur, Bifur (played by William Kircher) seems to have survived a close encounter — and come away with a permanent souvenir.

      Bofur
Bombur's brother and Bifur's cousin — yes, dwarven family trees seem to have a lot of branches — Bofur (played by James Nesbitt) is rather fond of the clarinet.

      Bombur
Ah, Bombur (played by Stephen Hunter): His girth is matched only by his clumsiness. Legend has it that, in his old age, he gained so much weight that he couldn't get out of his own bed...unless hoisted out by a troupe of young dwarves.

      Dwalin
Now here's a dwarf you don't want to meet in a dark alley: If Middle-earth had biker bars, you'd probably find Dwalin (played by Graham McTavish), brother of Balin, in one.

      Thorin Oakenshield
The only dwarf to get a last name — so you know he's important — Thorin (played by Richard Armitage) is the leader of the expedition into the wild to kill Smaug, in hopes of claiming his rightful place as King Under the Mountain.

      Dori
Dori (played by Mark Hadlow) can count Ori and Nori as his brothers. Rhyming, it seems, was a mandatory convention when it came to naming dwarf siblings.

      Fili
If Abercrombie & Fitch had a Middle-earth location, Fili (played by Dean O'Gorman) and his brother Kili would be the dwarf-outlet poster boys.

      Kili
Just look at him: Kili (played by Aidan Turner) is totally rocking the Blue Steel

      Gloin
Gloin (played by Peter Hambleton), son of Groin — no, really — is both the brother of Oin and the father of Lord of the Rings' Gimli. It seems that escorting Hobbits about was the family business.

      Nori
Little is known about Nori (played by Jed Brophy), brother of Ori and Dori, save his apparent predilection for stylish coiffure.

      Ori
If you've been paying attention, we're sure you know who Ori (played by Adam Brown) is related to. (Okay, fine, his brothers are Nori and Dori.) And just by looking at him, you can tell he's the sharpest tool in the shed.

      Oin
Another son of Groin — that is never going to get old — Oin (played by John Callen) joined his brother Gloin on Thorin Oakenshield's quest to kill the dragon Smaug and roll around in gold coins like a stripper in singles

      Gandalf the Grey
Since The Hobbit takes place before this wizard (played by Ian McKellen) fell at the hands of a Balrog in The Fellowship of the Ring (and was then — DECADES OLD SPOILER ALERT — reincarnated as Gandalf the White), we get the shaggy trickster we so fondly remember.

I so can't wait for this film to come out First read this book when I was 11 and I fell in love with Middle Earth, although the film has stuff from the Simarillion in it as well as the Hobbit book never covers the fight with the Necromancer.

with the movies being split into 3 hopefully we will see the fight with Necromancer [if it fits into the story] Loved the LOTR and can't wait to watch it on blu-ray on a big screen

Yeah it's already announced that the fight with the Necromancer is included in it, I think from what I have read it's going to have one of the three films all to it's self to focus primarily on that fight, it's mentioned in about 2 sentences, when Thorin makes the remark that once they have slain Smaug maybe they should look to rid the area of the Necromancer to which Gandalf tells him that the necromancer is a foe beyond them.

Sorry read the book not to long ago, and am SOOOOO hyper for this movie I NEED TO SEE IT NOW!!!!! lol
