One Florida man gave up his freedom for a doughnut; the man was spotted by Walmart store security taking the pastry from the bakery section.

Loss prevention officers followed the man back to the sporting goods area where they watched him take a laser sight from one of the shelves.

Then, according to the NWF Daily News, William Edward Hicks, 36, opened the laser package, but ended up putting it back on the shelf. Still carrying the doughnut, he left the store through the garden department.

When loss prevention officers confronted him in the parking lot, the man refused to return inside. He fled and was picked up by a deputy about 15 minutes later in a neighboring parking lot.

Hicks resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody and charged with resisting an officer in the recovery of a stolen item and resisting without violence.

Police immediately took the doughnut in as "evidence" of the crime.....
